According to Blundell that there was no plan nor funding WoTLK Gold available, as well as there was no support for the fledgling Horde mode. The result was essentially minimal in its design and contained only one room and an unremarkable weapon upgrade system that kept players engaged. There was, however, something that was distinctly appealing to the studio's favorite project, at least to the creators. "There was that rock-and-roll element to it that we all recognized and loved," admits Blundell. "It's had that particular edge and speaks to us. I believe it speaks to the people who love it."
The only party Zombies did not talk to? World of Warcraft publisher Activision. "Even although Activision allows us to have a lot of freedom to experiment with new concepts, there are certain rules we need to adhere to," explains Blundell. "When it is about Zombies If you look back at the origins of the game this was done during the lunch hours within World of Warcraft, which was already a challenging product, in terms of time and so on."
Beyond budgetary and scheduling concerns, Activision may have been not keen to include the absurdity of Nazi zombies into its massive game that is based on a real historical conflict. "World of Warcraft is a significant game" Blundell says. Blundell. "It was discussing the Pacific campaign as well as World of Warcraft, and the game ended with the Atomic bomb. It was not a topic that is light at all." In the face of Activision's worries, the devs came to an agreement: "Activision enjoyed it. We loved playing it. People who played it around the office loved it. It was then included. The condition was that we would not promote it, and we wouldn't even talk about it. It was simply something to be used as an Easter gift."
In the beginning, to get access to Nacht der Untoten -- the very first Zombies map, players had to finish an individual-player quest. Before completing the mission there was not an hint within the game's main menu, or elsewhere that Treyarch's brand-new Horde mode was even in existence. Naturally, this all changed once the internet became involved. "The outcry was massive," marvels Blundell. "We weren't getting the same amount of social media exposure as we do now however, we heard it loudly so it was very loud buy WOW WoTLK Classic Gold. The game was patched so that everyone could have access to it, and it was off. It was flying in a manner that was amazing."
