The core abilities of Evoker are the what WoTLK Gold Blizzard calls "empowered" abilities, which is the fancy term for saying that you hold the ability key down to make it charge and then release the key to cast the spell. The concept of empowered abilities was in with the developers over many years, Day said, and it all came together when Blizzard began to create the foundation for what an Evoker class was all about. The classes Devastation and Preservation contain a number of empowered abilities. Some deal more damage the longer they're held and some will affect more enemies. Some abilities will heal more allies or have a stronger effect dependent on the length of time that the ability is charged for. This isn't exactly a groundbreaking innovative gameplay feature that's not already been utilized in other RPGs. However, the abilities that are empowered are an exciting mechanic that can breathe new life into WoW's gameplay.

The dragonriding mounts can be made customizable and will only be usable within the Dragon Isles.

The same can be said for the expansion's new dragonriding mechanic, but with more mixed results. Since the start of WoW, riding a ground mount is simply a passive speed boost that lets you go from one point to B at a faster rate than if were walking. Flying mounts, while an important addition in The Burning Crusade, were basically the same but much more efficient and without having to travel on roads. Dragonriding alters that in that it demands you interact with the mechanics as well as the environment if you want to move quickly. In Dragonflight players can receive special dragon mounts that are able to be ridden by using this new system traversing the various zones of the Dragon Isles. The mounts come with Vigor which is basically an endurance bar. Utilizing special abilities, such as an upward dash, it uses a certain amount of Vigor, while traveling at speedy speeds (or moving around with the feet) will recharge the bar of Vigor.

It's a great concept in theory it will result in a more engaging gameplay than simply riding your standard mount, activating auto-run and leaving your keyboard at a time of five minutes. To reach max speeds, you need to dive downwards or capture a breeze buy WoTLK Classic Gold which will give you a speed boost. The idea of flying up a tall hill or mountainside isn't realistic, as you'll lose speed and momentum before too long. It's not being a pilot in the typical WoW sense, but more like falling--with fashion.
