Har Ki Dun trek is located at height of 3500meter in the Govind Pashu National Park in Gharwal region of Uttarakhand. This valley provides wonderful trekking experience.

 

The trek covers 7 days to complete starting it from location Sankri.

 

Common route is from Sankri to Taluka along Rupin and Supin River. Thereafter, covering Osla and Har Ki Dun trek simultaneously.

 

Majestic view of Himalayan hills and dancing rivers along with snow- laden glaciers are found. Marinda Lake at height of 4km is the place to explore.

 

Swargarohini peak is the best spot to visit.

 

Mode of Transport:

 

By Air: Nearest transport is 240km from Jollygrant Airport. So, one can board flight from Dehradun at Jollygrant Airport. Then, book taxi to reach Sankri.

 

By Bus: Sankri connects to most tourists’ spot of Uttarakhand. To reach Sankri board bus from Uttarakhand transport from Kashmir Gate Delhi. After reaching Dehradun, buses and taxis are easily available for Sankri.

 

By Train: Sankri to Dehradun is the nearest railway station. Covering distance of total 200km from Sankri. Buses are available from outside of station.

 

Har Ki Dun Trek Map:

 

Located at Uttarakhand. One can visit Sankri village from Dehradun or Mussoorie. Thereafter you can reach Sankri through Govind Pashu Vihar National Park after collecting entry pass costing Rs 200.

 

From Sankri, move towards Taluka village which is the last point connecting the road. From here the actual trekking starts, covering total of 27kms.

 

On the way, Osla and Seema are the two intermediate stops. Osla is basically, old village and resident of many people whereas Seema is the place basically, for tourists to spot.

 

Best time to visit:

 

The best time to visit the trek is as follows:

 

  •        March end to June

 

  •         Starting from November to February.

 

  •        During monsoon, the Government Authority stops all trekking activities from July until August.

 

Itinery for the Trek:

 

  •        Day 1: If one, start their journey from Delhi by train or bus it will take a whole day to reach Dehradun and then Mussoorie. Do night stay at Mussoorie. The night view at Mussoorie is mesmerizing.

 

  •        Day 2: After having wonderful morning in Mussoorie, start trekking towards Sankri. After reaching Sankri have a night stay there.

 

  •        Day 3: After doing breakfast in morning start trekking for Taluka, which will take 4-5 hours to complete it. There, enjoy the Mountain View at Taluka and do night stay at hotel there. After it start the trekking again on next morning.

 

  •        Day 4: On fourth day start journey in early morning by trekking along Rupin River. The walnut, chestnut, and willow tree provides refreshment. After it, 7-8hrs

 

  •        Day 5: On day 5, trekking will be towards Osla or Seema. Their scenic beauty of hills and valleys is to enjoy. Set a tent their and start excursion towards Marinda Lake. The total distance of 13-14km is to covered

 

  •        Day 6: After completing the whole journey, one can return from Osla or Seema to their destination.

 

Activities to Explore:

 

There are various activities to explore during the trek, which includes mountain views, camping, trekking, skating, and having beautiful pictures and so on.

 

Places to stay at Trek:

 

  •        During the Trek, there is Gharwal Mandal Vikas Nigam Guest House is there to stay.

 

  •        If somebody wants to experience new things then they can carry their own camping tents. There are various locations available to pitch a tent.

 

  •         There are beautiful homes or houses are available to stay which provides feeling as if you are the local resident.

 

Packaging needed for Trek:

 

Meals: The packaging of food for lunch, dinner and breakfast is essential. In most of the places, only vegetarian foods are available.

 

Trekking Material: Trekkers need to carry trekking materials such as sleeping bags and high quality tents available for camp.

 

Equipments for safety: Safety equipments such as oxygen cylinders, oximeter, and other materials, which are, need to be taken must be packed properly along with guide for if any emergency occurs or arises.

 

Leaders: Take experienced leaders and guide those who will be having complete knowledge and idea of the trip along with cooks and helpers.

 

Accommodation: Trekkers can point tents to stay at Sankri base camp; rather different rooms are also available differently for male and female.

 

Important things to do:

 

  •        Keep enough cash from Dehradun itself as their will be no ATM or Paytm service available.

 

  •        Hardly any petrol tanks found so keep petrol tank full.

 

  •        Make emergency calls earlier before starting trekking as no mobile networks found as you go upward while trekking.

 

  •        Check weather condition a week ago before planning a trek.
