The plough, or plow, is a crucial agricultural tool utilized for the purpose of loosening or overturning the soil prior to sowing and planting seeds. Throughout history, ploughing has played a fundamental role in farming. Its primary objective is to bring fresh nutrients to the surface while simultaneously burying weeds and crop remnants for decomposition. The furrows created by the plough are referred to as trenches. In modern practices, a ploughed field is typically left to dry and then harrowed before the planting process. By ploughing and cultivating the soil, the uppermost layer, ranging from 12 to 25 centimeters (5 to 10 inches) in depth, is evenly distributed, providing an optimal environment for the growth of plant-feeder roots. Initially, ploughing was carried out manually, followed by the utilization of animals such as oxen and horses. However, with the rapid advancements in technology, machines are now employed for the purpose of ploughing.
